Hey Yogis!
It's November. Love November! When I lived in Massachusetts it was a time of shuffling around in fallen leaves, breathing in the crisp air, baking apple pies, and preparing for my second favorite holiday (right after Halloween!)....Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving has always been a favorite because in my home it was all about family. It was a time for getting together around a table with the ones you love and sharing a meal (which everyone helped to prepare...whether you were a meal maker, a table setter, a dish washer, a dish dryer, or a dessert bringer...everyone played a part!).
In these days of everyone rushing around, spending quality time with family is even more important. Please, at least once this month (in addition to your Thanksgiving Dinner), find a day with no place to rush off to (no soccer, dance classes, football practices, piano lessons, etc.) put away the TV tray, turn off the TV, lock your cell phone away in a closet and just sit for a meal at a table with the ones you love. Tell stories...new ones, old ones, whatever. Make eye contact and listen. Hear what's being said and what's not being said. Relax and enjoy.
Then, when you're done, send out a little gratitude for the quality time spent together. These are the moments that make life good.
Namaste,
Dorothy
